Geometry exercises for Grade 2

Make progress in geometry in Grade 2! Enjoy fun and effective exercises to help your child master shapes. Discover our method with myBlee Math.

Geometry exercises for Grade 2 students

In Grade 2, learning about geometry allows students to discover shapes, measurements, and spatial organization. To support them, we offer a selection of math exercises adapted to their level, focused on geometry and basic measurement concepts. Each worksheet is available as a ready-to-print PDF, perfect for use at home or in class.

The activities cover various topics: recognizing and drawing geometric figures such as a right triangle, using a number line, understanding the concept of perimeter through simple perimeter exercises, or exploring basic measurements of volume and mass.

Through math games, students learn while having fun, developing their logic and observation skills.

Some worksheets can also be used in Grade 3 geometry, to reinforce skills and deepen concepts seen in Grade 2.

Drawing segments and lines precisely

In Grade 2, students learn to use a ruler to draw segments and lines carefully. This geometry exercise develops accuracy and precision. The child draws several horizontal and vertical lines, connects points on a sheet, and names the segments (AB, CD…).

This type of math exercise helps structure spatial understanding and grasp the concept of length. It is excellent preparation before introducing perimeter or measurements on a number line.

Identifying right angles in the classroom

Recognizing a right angle is an important step in geometry. Students use a set square to check if two lines are perpendicular. In class, they look for right angles in everyday objects: the cover of a notebook, the corner of a table, the classroom door… This fun activity makes geometry tangible while developing observation skills and geometric vocabulary.

Discovering polygons through play

Students learn to identify and classify polygons by their characteristics: number of sides, equal lengths, or presence of right angles. Through cutting, sorting, and coloring activities, they distinguish squares, rectangles, and triangles. This exercise strengthens logic and prepares children for more advanced topics such as calculating perimeter in Grade 3.

Finding your way on a grid

Activities about grids help students orient themselves in space. They move a point on a plane, follow a path, or find a figure by following specific instructions. These exercises introduce reading a number line and the concept of symmetry.

Manipulating solids to understand volume

To explore volume and mass concepts, students manipulate solids like cubes, rectangular prisms, and pyramids. They learn to recognize edges, vertices, and faces through hands-on activities with clay or sticks. This concrete approach connects geometry to real life and prepares them for learning about capacity and mass.

Printable geometry worksheets and an app for diverse learning

To help Grade 2 students discover geometry, we offer ready-to-print worksheets for class or home use. They help practice drawing segments, recognizing shapes, or identifying right angles with progressive activities aligned with the curriculum. In addition, the math app myBlee Math offers an interactive, personalized approach: children can place points on a grid, manipulate shapes, or check their drawings while receiving immediate feedback and voice-guided explanations.

Alternating between paper and digital resources keeps attention, stimulates curiosity, and strengthens memory.

Students reinforce their skills while having fun, thanks to tools designed for independent and engaging learning in geometry.
