Here are a few tips (based on decades of cumulative classroom experience from our teachers!) on how to learn efficiently (works with any topic, not just math!). These are the cornerstones of efficient learning:
- Start with easy things and don’t skip steps – Even if your child finds it (too) easy, it’s never a waste of time to practice easy foundations!
- Practice, practice and practice again – Do the same types of exercises over and over again («drills») just like you would do for a sport!
- Take the time to search for the answer, to ask things outloud – On your own, in silence, concentrated, just let the brain work!
- Come back often (during a school year but also across grades) to important topics. This is what we call “memorial anchor”
